2024 Election and the Aftermath for US HNWIs

RIF Trust on the Outcome of the American Election

“Dear US HNWI,” begins RIF Trust’s Chief Executive Officer Mimoun Assraoui, “this article is an open letter should you be considering your options following the 2024 election.”

“The battle to take the White House between the Republican Trump and the Democrat Harris went to the wire. It was a thrilling denouement to this the Year of Elections.”

Mimoun offers further perspective: “Whether you’re blue or red, left or right, conservative or progressive, the 2024 election will impact you and your family too.”

“There has never been a better time to explore how your specific circumstances fit into the world of Residency by Investment.”

“Or maybe what you’re looking for is better served by Citizenship by Investment?”

“We’re already fielding enquiries from disgruntled Democrats,” our CEO reveals. “While Republicans may be rejoicing now, if this 2024 election has proved one thing, it’s that you never know what could be around the corner. You can have a Plan B in advance of something happening as well as a reaction to an event.”

What the 2024 Election Result Means for Democrats

The Rest Is Politics (TRIP) is the most popular podcast in the UK, co-hosted by erstwhile Labour spin doctor Alastair Campbell and former Tory minister Rory Stewart. Its success spawned the launch of an American-specific spin-off, The Rest Is Politics US (TRIP US) where the 2 hosts are one-time Trump aide Anthony Scaramucci and political journalist Katty Kay.

Back in April 2024, they speculated about “Project 2025 – the very long MAGA wish list” coming true, covering everything “from killing wild horses to banning the abortion pill.”

Now, while Trump, by his own admission, has “nothing to do with Project 2025” his VEEP, JD Vance most certainly does. Vance is a close friend of Kevin. D Roberts, the President of The Heritage Foundation, the authoritarian think tank behind Project 2025. Roberts sends out emails that ask: “Are you ready to save the American Dream?”

The target market for Roberts’ Foundation is the “loyal American patriot.” These are US citizens concerned about “ issues like illegal immigration, high crime, and government spending plaguing our country.” According to The Heritage Foundation, “someone needs to take a stand for the American people” and that someone is the Foundation.”

“That’s why The Heritage Foundation works on behalf of Americans like you to create and promote conservative policy solutions that will save the American Dream.” One person’s dream, however, is another person’s nightmare. Especially as the Republican control extends to the Senate too, where Business Insider predicts that Trump will prioritize hiring new Supreme Court Judges to cement his long-term dictatorial political legacy.

How the 2024 Election Affects Republicans

The 2024 Election was a closely-contested affair. It looks like just being as tight in 4 years’ time. And in 2028, the dice will not be loaded so much in Republicans’ favour, according to GZERO Media Founder and President, Ian Bremmer.

2024 saw the development of a new trend in voting behaviour. Bremmer refers to it as an anti-incumbency movement. In his GZERO Quick Take on Monday, July 8, 2024, he declares that “in global elections, incumbents are in trouble.”

So, proactive Republicans will want to get their houses in order well ahead of making a panic purchase of Residency and Citizenship by Investment further down the line. Isn’t it better to research your options carefully, Republican HNWIs? That is what is known as a rhetorical question.

Of course, one doesn’t only invest in a new residency and second citizenship when things are bad or you think they will do. You can enjoy the benefits of a Residency by Investment or Citizenship by Investment programme from a benefit of strength, seeing as you don’t have to relocate to enjoy the benefits of enhanced visa-free travel across the Schengen Zone and beyond.

How US HNWIs Can Take Advantage of Residency and Citizenship by Investment

The closest programmes to home for American HNWIs include the 5 Citizenship by Investment programmes in the Caribbean. These are specifically in the Eastern Caribbean region, and they offer broadly similar programmes in terms of price and passport power.

Nonetheless, we’re more than happy to discuss with you the relative attributes of Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, and St Lucia Citizenship by Investment.

For an altogether stronger passport, you should turn your attention towards European Citizenship by Investment. This is where you can increase the power of your travel document further. As a Maltese Exceptional Investor Naturalization (MEIN) investor, you will become eligible for a Maltese passport which affords you visa-free entry point to 176 countries.

There are more affordable European Residency by Investment programmes, their price lowered because of their slower route to citizenship via naturalization. You can take your pick from the golden visas offered by Greece, Portugal, and Spain. Which programme you select will vary according to whether you prefer to invest in brick and mortars along with the length of time you’re prepared to wait to naturalize as a national.

With a Greek Golden Visa, you can become an EU citizen following 7 years but your naturalization is subject to restrictive language and physical residency demands.

A Portuguese Golden Visa supplies a 5-year passage to citizenship in Portugal right from the date you apply for this Residency by Investment while a Spanish Golden Visa is a more drawn-out process of 10 years (2 if you hail from Latin America or the Philippines).

No matter which programme you choose to naturalize from, you enjoy visa-free travel across the 29 countries comprising the Schengen Zone in the meantime.
