10 years on from its creation, the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Unit is no more. The Unit that brought in over $168 million in 2023 became the Investment Migration Agency Grenada at a ceremony on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. This RIF Trust news story reports on the latest Grenada Citizenship by Investment development.
Thomas Anthony, the CEO of the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Unit, views the rebranding as a marketing exercise. It’s all about “crafting and managing the Grenada CBI narrative.” A marketing and promotion programme is more effective when a company has a consistent clear message and brand identity,” he said.
“The current brand mark has inherent limitations in terms of how it may be used for different merchandise,” adds Anthony. He realizes that the Coat of Arms “does not stand out against competing regional countries.”
“Unlocking the possibilities” is the tagline while the logo features the nutmeg. Grenada is known as the Spice Island. Nutmeg is one of Grenada’s major exports and this spice already features on the Grenada flag.
Dickon Mitchell used the ceremony as a launchpad to change the perspective of the Citizenship by Investment Programme within the country.
“We see the migration investment industry as any other financial services industry that is available to mankind to be able to maximise the benefit of being a global citizen,” asserts Mitchell.
“If we don’t have local support for the migration industry and the benefits that this country has obtained as a result of having this program then it becomes much more difficult to defend.”
Chris Willis, Our Man in the Caribbean, praises Grenada for being proactive. He points out that “Innovation is at the heart of investment migration. Programmes evolve but they do not do so independently, but by forward thinking.”
“If Citizenship by Investment wants to keep up with the pace of life today, its administrators have to adapt and modernize,” Willis continues.
He concludes: “Having lived in Grenada, I love the new logo and what it represents. Congratulations to the IMA Grenada!”
