Cyprus has been a European Union member since 2004. For many years, successful families have settled here to take advantage of the year-round warm climate. They also enjoy low tax rates and the well-established, international education system.
Cyprus has a wealth of well-regarded international schools spread across the island. Most schools teach either the British or American curriculum. Your children will more than likely receive lessons in English. There is a handful of institutions that cater for French and Arabic speakers.
Omar Mina, Latitude’s Managing Director in Cyprus has advised many families on where to educate their children: “The international schools here are used to welcoming students from all over the world. Although lessons are usually conducted in English, most teachers are bilingual. All international schools teach multiple languages as part of the curriculum.”
There are over 30 international schools dotted throughout the island. Here are five that Omar regularly recommends.
Founded in 1922, The Academy has a long history of providing top-class education in a caring environment. The American Academy Nicosia provides outstanding learning opportunities for students from two years and eight months to nineteen years of age. Following the British curriculum, The Academy welcomes both Cypriot and international students.

They teach the British curriculum, in English, to students from kindergarten all the way through secondary. The school also offers boarding options for secondary students.
Founded in 1970, Foley’s is one of the most highly-reputed schools on the island. Oxbride accepts more Foley’s students than any other school on the island. There are two campuses spread across Limassol. Foley’s students come from over 45 countries and can attend the school from KG to Grade 12.
