About Fiji

Fiji, officially the Republic of Fiji, is an island country in Melanesia, part of Oceania in the South Pacific Ocean. It’s famed for its rugged landscapes, palm-lined beaches and coral reefs with clear lagoons. The country has a population of approximately 900,000 people, with a mix of Fijian, Indian, European, and other Pacific islanders contributing to a rich and diverse culture.

Fiji experiences a tropical marine climate, with only slight seasonal temperature variations. This makes Fiji a perfect holiday destination year-round. The culture is a blend of indigenous Fijian, Indo-Fijian, Asian and European traditions, showcasing a multicultural island society with an abundance of customs and rituals that are centuries old.

Economically, Fiji is one of the more developed Pacific Island economies, though it still has a large subsistence sector. Tourism and sugar exports are two of the most significant contributors to its economy. Traditional Fijian crafts, including pottery, cloth-making, and mat weaving, are also an integral part of the country’s economy.

Fiji’s passport offers its holder visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to numerous countries worldwide, making it a valuable document for international travel. Fiji is a member of the United Nations and a part of the Commonwealth, reflecting its status as a respected member of the international community.
